My song "Escape" will unfortunately not be able to make it to Newgrounds since it APPARENTLY matches with Jim The Angry Birds's "Core" since it uses the same fucking audio stems and samples and we used the same music-making platform (BandLab) to create said fucking song.

But you can still listen to the song on YouTube which can be found here:

But to be fair, there's nothing I can do to support my case since they do sound similar if you listen to both songs. Anyway, go listen to Jim's "Core" because why not:

Ooof, as someone that used to mod back in 2008/2009 the process of figuring out how to sample ethically when you're first starting out is frought with nuance and challenge. I'm sure AI will eventually have as much impact on music as it has had on graphic art and I wonder how it will affect our community here.

I was lucky to start my music journey on live drum kits before moving to EDM; using the drum loops in Garageband felt so painful. I was using "musical typing," preset instrument patches, and drum loops until I learned a little and started slicing samples, initializing patches, and watching tutorials. It's been a long journey but please don't let this turn you off from making EDM.

Sample packs are a great place to start but even EDM labels are turning people away for relying entirely on sample packs. Learning how to make your own sound takes practice, a DAW is an instrument. I'm not sure if you're old enough to be aware of legalese and copy right law but every few years a popular music artist is dragged to court for shit like "stealing chord progressions" or "sounding too much" like something else. It's usually total crap, I'd recommend looking into the recent Ed Sheeran vs. the Marvin Gaye estate. Despite being dead, Marvin's music is still owned by his estate and they tried to sue over a chord progression. Ed snapped back in court by bringing in a guitar and literally playing a mashup of popular songs that used the same chord progression he was being sued for.

Being an artist requires a lot of practice, it's only easy when you understand all the potential pit falls. I'm so sorry you got hit with the mod hammer but join the NG music discord group. Plenty of people there can help push you in the right direction, and I like to hang out there from time to time... let me track down a link.....

Hit that group up for questions and conversation, it's packed with music enthusiasts that love programming everything from classical genres, to metal, and of course EDM <3

Thank you so much! I'll check this server out later. <3
